Windows private agent

Before installing

Tested on Windows 11 x64. Administrator access is required. Keep Windows updated and the computer powered on, awake and online. Installation does not replace Herd, change your system PATH, or open inbound firewall ports.

This agent checks assigned ping and TCP monitors on your plan’s schedule. It does not automatically discover networks, browse shares, scan ports or match CVEs. TCP success means a connection was accepted—not that an application or DNS query worked.

Monitoring after reboot and manual Windows sign-in has been tested. Pre-login startup, signed-out operation and sleep/wake are not qualified by this release. Windows ARM, Windows 10 without supported security coverage, Linux, macOS and router packages are not covered by this Windows qualification.

Install a new location

1. Extract the entire ZIP. Keep the separate Install and Maintenance folders intact. Their same-named launchers are different programs.
2. Open START-HERE.md in the extracted folder. Verify both launchers and check for publisher 777 Easy LLC. Stop on unexpected publisher, altered-file or security-policy warnings; do not bypass them.
3. Use an active Pro or higher plan and create a new location in Private agents. Enter its one-time token only into the installer’s hidden local prompt, never in a command or support chat.
4. Follow the guide’s installation and startup-safeguard steps with the same location ID. Do not install another copy of an existing working location.
5. Confirm Connected, assign the intended monitors, and check for fresh saved results at the normal plan interval. A running Windows task alone is not proof.

Optional automatic updates

After installing and confirming normal saved monitoring, you can separately choose Windows automatic updates. The optional setup and control package starts with updates off and requires explicit opt-in. It does not replace this installer or its Maintenance tools, enroll an agent remotely, or require another token for an existing healthy installation.

Updates and support

The included runtime is Node 24.21.0. Updates in this installer are reviewed and manual; changing another Node installation does not update this agent. Read SUPPORT.md before using the separate signed Maintenance launcher. Do not run payload scripts or copy files into an installed agent.

Installation, startup repair, reboot/manual sign-in, a running 24.20→24.21 update with saved checks before and after, offline interrupted-update recovery, and temporary-test removal have passed. This does not guarantee every Windows configuration.

A Windows file-replacement error (1175) occurred during development; its root cause remains unresolved. A maintenance failure may leave monitoring stopped and require support to review retained recovery records. Do not delete those records, disable security software, or repeatedly retry an update.

Removing a local installation does not revoke its cloud token or delete its cloud monitors. Review those separately. Manual setup and troubleshooting remain available.
